7/2/26 – NHHF Applauds the Supreme Court’s Decision to Uphold Birthright Citizenship

The National Hispanic Health Foundation (NHHF) supports the United States Supreme Court’s decision to uphold birthright citizenship, rejecting President Trump’s executive order that sought to deny citizenship at birth to children born in the United States based on their parents’ immigration status. This landmark ruling reaffirms that, under the Fourteenth Amendment, nearly all children born in the United States are recognized as U.S. citizens at birth. It provides certainty for children and families across the country and upholds a constitutional principle that has shaped our nation for generations.

“At NHHF, we believe healthy communities are built on stability and access to quality health care. When families have confidence in their future, they are better able to seek care, support their children’s well-being, and build healthier lives,” said Dr. Elena Rios, NHHF National President. “Reducing fear and uncertainty is an important part of improving the overall health of our communities.”

As an organization dedicated to transforming the healthcare system through leadership, research, education, and advocacy to improve the health of underserved communities, NHHF recognizes that when individuals and families feel secure in their future, they are more likely to seek the care they need and engage with the healthcare system. This reflects our commitment to supporting the students, physicians, health professionals, and community leaders working to improve health outcomes.

We will continue working to improve the health of underserved communities and support a future where every individual has the opportunity to achieve their best possible health.
