7/1/25 – Hispanic Health Professionals Network Urges Vote NO on OBBB

HISPANIC HEALTH PROFESSIONALS NETWORK

STATEMENT TO U.S. CONGRESS

We write today on behalf of the National Hispanic Health Foundation and the Hispanic Health Professionals Network to express our deep concern over the “One Big Beautiful Bill” Act that proposes Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP and student/parent higher education loan cuts which could result in 16M uninsured, increased disparities across the nation, and an additional $5T to the national debt.

Medicaid is a lifeline for millions of Americans, including pregnant women, children, seniors, the disabled, and individuals with chronic health conditions. It is especially critical for Hispanic communities, which experience disproportionate levels of the uninsured and barriers to access to prevention and health care. The proposed policies would result in enormous fiscal burdens on states, hospitals, medical practices, and nursing homes:

  • States will have to cut Medicaid benefits to millions, destabilizing local healthcare systems, rural hospitals, and community-based organizations,
  • Americans across the country, especially low-income and underserved will face higher out-of-pocket costs and reduced access to essential care,
  • Emergency room visits, preventable hospitalizations, and premature deaths will increase,

In summary, we urge you to reject these proposed cuts and instead champion policies that strengthen Medicaid & Medicare and protect access to care for all Americans.
