WASHINGTON, DC, October 22, 2025— The National Hispanic Health Foundation (NHHF) applauds the Senate HELP Committee for convening a hearing to examine the growth and performance of the 340B Drug Pricing Program. This discussion could not be more timely or more important for Hispanic and Latino families who depend on affordable access to medicine and equitable healthcare.
The Congressional Budget Office’s recent report found that the 340B program’s explosive growth — from $6.6 billion in 2010 to nearly $44 billion in 2021 — has not translated into better care for patients in need. Instead, the system’s lack of transparency has allowed large hospitals and contract pharmacies to pocket savings intended for low-income and minority communities. For Hispanic families managing chronic illnesses like diabetes or hypertension, this diversion of resources deepens health disparities and undermines trust in our healthcare system.
NHHF supports the 340B ACCESS Act as a common-sense step toward restoring accountability and fairness. By defining eligible patients, requiring public reporting on how revenues are used, and ensuring savings flow directly to those in need, the bill would help realign 340B with its original mission: supporting safety-net providers and improving care for underserved populations. NHHF thanks the Committee for shining a light on this critical issue and urges bipartisan action to make the 340B program work for patients — not profit.
