Ronnie Rivera is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of California, Irvine. He serves the campus community as his department’s Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Wellness and Clerkship Director for emergency medicine rotations. He is a Dean’s Scholar for the PRIME – Latino Communities program, a mission-based program at the school of medicine.
He is also the founding director of the first LGBTQIA+ mission-based program for medical students, LEAD-PRIDE. Ronnie completed medical school at UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine, and residency at SUNY Downstate / Kings County in Brooklyn, New York. After being elected Chief of Education, he discovered a passion for teaching his peers and improving bedside patient education as part of patient centered care. He completed a medical education fellowship in Multimedia Design and Education Technology at UCI and a masters degree in education focused on Digital Age Learning and Technology.
